Dr. Corin Berg

Owner

Dr. Corin Berg was born in Provost, Alberta and raised on a mixed farm nearby. After attending the University of Alberta for four years, he entered the Western College of Veterinary Medicine completing his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 1995. Dr. Berg joined us as a student summer intern in 1994 and as a veterinarian upon graduation in 1995. Dr. Berg has a special interest in orthopedic surgery and small animal medicine.

Dr. Berg and his wife Julie have three children; Carter, born in June 2000, Monica, born in August 2002, and Spencer, born in April 2005. Outside of work and family, Corin plays hockey and golf and enjoys the outdoors, camping, and travelling.

Dr. Trent Wennekamp

Owner

Dr. Trent Wennekamp was born and raised right here in Lloydminster, on his parents mixed farm southwest of town. He attended school in Kitscoty before taking his undergraduate training at the University of Alberta. He then went on to receive his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 2001, from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in Saskatoon. Trent worked overseas for a year in New Zealand as a veterinarian before joining the Lloydminster Animal Hospital in 2002. Dr. Wennekamp is married to Rebecca (nee Willis) who is from Paradise Valley. Together they enjoy travelling, the outdoors and are involved in church activities. Dr. Wennekamp also plays many sports including hockey, golf and skiing. Trent and Rebecca have four young boys to keep them busy; Luke, Gabe, Paul and Ben.

Dr. Becky Newman

Owner

Dr. Becky Newman (nee Mitchell) was raised on a cattle farm just south of Kitscoty. After 2 years of undergraduate studies at the University of Saskatchewan, Dr. Newman was accepted into the Western College of Veterinary Medicine. In 2000, she graduated as a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine with Great Distinction.

Dr. Newman worked in Fort Macleod and Ponoka before spending 1.5 years abroad, working as a food animal veterinarian in New Zealand. Dr. Newman joined the Lloydminster Animal Hospital in 2005. Dr. Newman is married to Dustin Newman, who hails from Hillmond. They have 2 children, Nora and Owen, a crazy dog named Lucy, and a calico kitty, Gypsy. As a family, they love the outdoors. Be it camping, gardening, kayaking or just exploring nature! Dr. Newman is also an avid curler, enjoys recreational hockey, and loves giving back to her community through volunteer efforts.

Dr. Joanne Heaver

Owner

Dr. Joanne Heaver was raised on an acreage near North Battleford, Saskatchewan and graduated from the Western College of Veterinary medicine in 2004. She believes in life-long learning and enjoys the multi-faceted nature of small animal medicine, and has a special interest in dentistry and rehabilitation. In December 2022, Dr. Heaver completed additional education and certification in Canine Rehabilitation through the University of Tennessee program. She is a Certified Canine Rehabilitation Practitioner (CCRP) and is currently working towards her Certified Canine Manual Therapy (CCMT) designation through the University of North Carolina. Outside of work, she enjoys hiking, camping and travelling with her husband Craig and their dog, Widget.

Dr. Taryn Schachtel

Owner

Dr. Taryn Schachtel (nee Holtby) was born and raised near Lloydminster on a mixed cattle and grain farm near Marshall. She graduated from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in 2012 and began working at the Lloydminster Animal Hospital in May, 2012. In July 2013, Dr. Schachtel married Brennan Schachtel of Macklin, SK. She works with all species, but does have a special interest in large animals, especially horses! When not at work Taryn loves to ride horses, curl competitively, run and work on the farm.

Dr. Daryl Hanley

Associate

Dr. Daryl Hanley was born in Regina, Saskatchewan and raised on a dairy farm near Balgonie, Saskatchewan. He attended the University of Regina for pre-veterinary training and transferred to the University of Saskatchewan to complete a Bachelor of Science in Vertebrate Zoology in 1988 and a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in 1992. He joined the Lloydminster Animal Hospital in May of 1992. Dr. Hanley and his wife, Dr. Sonia Kollassa, have one son, Kelton born February 2002 and one daughter, Kamryn, born January 2005. Daryl is active in curling, hockey, golf, coaching baseball and hockey. He relaxes playing piano at home, spending time at their cabin at Brightsand Lake and listening to music.

Dr. D. Colleen Hall

Associate

Dr. Colleen Hall was born and raised on a mixed farm north of Marsden. She attended the University of Saskatchewan and graduated with a degree in Doctor of Veterinary Medicine. After graduating, she worked for a year at a veterinary clinic in Neilburg, SK, and then ventured to New Zealand to experience practicing veterinary medicine in another country. When she returned to Canada, she once again joined the veterinary clinic in Neilburg as a partner and eventually became the sole owner of the Neilburg Veterinary Clinic. Dr Hall joined Lloydminster Animal Hospital in December of 2020. Colleen and her husband Kelvin raised 3 daughters Becky, Jenna, & Krista on a mixed farm south of Lashburn, where her youngest daughter and her spouse and sons now reside. Colleen and Kelvin chose to move a short distance from the farm, where Colleen can enjoy landscaping and gardening in the summer. Colleen and Kelvin also enjoy curling in the winter.

Dr. Lauren Broda

Associate

Dr. Lauren Broda was raised on a farm outside of Bonnyville/Cold Lake AB. She moved to Saskatoon in 2017 to start her undergraduate degree in Animal Bioscience. She was accepted into the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine program at the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in Saskatoon in 2019. She graduated in 2023 and joined the Lloydminster Animal Hospital soon after. Before graduation, Dr. Broda spent the summer of 2022 with LAH as a student.
Dr. Broda and her fiance Nick have 2 cats- Miley and Blair. Dr. Broda owns 4 horses which are still in Bonnyville for now.
Dr. Broda has a special interest in small animal surgery and bovine medicine. Outside of work she enjoys spending time outside, riding her horses, and doing crafts.

Dr. Tamara Macdonald

Associate

Dr. Tamara Macdonald was raised on a farm near Bonnyville, AB. She started as an undergraduate at the U of A in 2015, and then moved south to Calgary in 2017 to procure her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine. She graduated in the spring of 2021, and then joined LAH soon afterwards. Dr. Macdonald and her husband, Tyler, share their home with two cats, Ellie and Arnold, whom they saved from a busy intersection. Dr. Macdonald works with all species and is passionate about providing quality patient care and passing on important knowledge in regards to continued home care. Outside of work, she enjoys reading and pursuing physical fitness.

Dr. Pamela Barmentloo

Associate

Dr. Pamela Barmentloo was raised on a farm near Lavoy, AB. She graduated from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in Saskatoon in 2009. She joined Lloydminster Animal Hospital in September 2023. Dr. Barmentloo has a special interest in small animal dentistry, small animal surgery, and preventative medicine. She and her husband Tanner have three children, Carl, Timothy, and Margaret and their dog Nala.

Dr. Stephanie Tryhuba

Associate

Dr. Stephanie Tryhuba was born and raised on a beef cattle farm near Vermilion, AB. Growing up she was heavily involved in the Vermilion 4-H Light Horse Club, barrel racing and various team sports. She graduated from the University of Alberta with a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture in 2018 before continuing on to receive her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Calgary in 2022.
Dr. Tryhuba has a special interest in equine and large animal medicine but loves working with all species. In her free time, she enjoys spending time outdoors, riding horses, hiking with her pup Jasper, camping, fishing, golfing and curling up on the couch to read a good book.
